A moment of silence

Our thoughts are with the families of the children who lost their lives in the attack on the school in Pakistan this week. We are also thinking of the families of the two innocent victims whose lives were taken in the siege in Sydney this week, one of whom was a mother of three young children. You are in our thoughts and hearts.

Vintage black lace

Found these lovely black lace gloves in Myer in Chatswood last weekend.

At AU $19 I think the price was quite reasonable. They were kind of hidden together with handkerchiefs and scarfs, so  not all that easy to locate. What do you think,  are they a good find?

Cheap black converse-style shoes for $4!!!

I haven't posted in a while but am pretty over the moon at the moment as I've just bought possibly the CHEAPEST PAIR OF SHOES ever! Black converse-style shoes from K-Mart for only $4!!!

Looking forward to wearing these when I cycle to work next week...all in black! :-)

(Oh, but with lights and reflectors of course for safety. And my white helmet. And my red visor for sun protection. Okay, maybe not all in black? But still looking pretty mean!)

Compare and Contrast: Black Onyx-Style Rings

The first ring pictured is the Swarovski 'Sound Ring'. At AUD$255 this beautiful gold plated ring is full of sparkle! It comes with a matching pendant if your heart so desires.

The second ring is the Witchery 'Crystal Cocktail Ring'. At $39.95 (or less if the store you are in offers you a discount) this oversize dazzler will make you the classiest power ranger in the cocktail bar. I bought mine for $27.95 ($20% in-store sale plus a further reduction as one of the tiny crystals was missing).

What do you think? Which one do you prefer?

Leave a comment I'd love to know your thoughts :-)

Vintage & hand-made at the Avoca Beachside Markets

If you live in the Sydney area and enjoy going to markets, I thoroughly recommend the Avoca Beachside Markets. My friend showed me around the markets last weekend and I had a great time!
Wandering through the vintage and hand-made clothing stalls was especially fun!

The markets are very family friendly with lots of young children and young families and have a great feel to them.  This photo was taken at a beautiful stall called Octopus's Garden where they sell gorgeous coloured roses and little hanging glass gardens.

The markets are held on the last Sunday of the month. For more information visit Avoca Beachside Markets.

Own a Chloe for a day!

So here I am looking ever-so-chic with my very own 'Chloe' which I was very lucky to have had the use of for a day. This is the 'Chloe Paddington Satchel Bag' and is the most delicious shade of chocolate.

For anyone who has ever wanted to treat themselves to a bit of luxury, 'Lust for Bags' is a designer bag-hire company which has a great range of bags either for rent or for hire purchase. Check out the range at Lust for Bags!

Dress of the Moment

We love this exquisite dress worn by Megan Washington at the 2012 Women Of Style Awards at the Carriage Works on May 15, 2012 in Sydney. The beautiful but simple gold lace-work is stunning over the paler shade underneath. What a cute hairstyle too!

Tortoise Shell Sunnies for $24

These tortoise shell glasses from Witchery are drastically reduced at the moment. Called the 'Bianca' they are on sale for only AUD $24.95. They were originally $69.95 (think this is right - I tore the price tag). They may be a bit hard to find as they have been on sale for a while now. They didn't seem to be available from Witchery online but were available on the Witchery E-Bay Store (yes, apparently there is such a thing!)According to the Witchery website:

"Witchery now have an official eBay store... We now also sell through OzSale.com.au, NzSale.co.nz and SingSale.com.sg for all the latest sale merchandise. Please note, Witchery members are unable to redeem or earn member rewards by shopping through these channels."

If you are a witchery member and you shop in-store you get further reductions... card holders receive a 25% discount on these which brings the glasses down to about $18. How good is that?!

Happy shopping!

Budget black leggings

If you need any black leggings KMart sells some great but cheap leggings in both a long and short style for only $8 each. As far as cheap clothes go this definitely won't break the budget! I bought these cropped length leggings from KMart in the Broadway Shopping Centre. Bargain :-)

Flaming Nails!

My friend coloured her nails - with fire!! If you have been creative with your nails lately, send me a photo! I'm thinking this design should be called Flaming Nails.. or Fire Fingers... you know, like Gold Finger only with fire? (Cue appropriate theme song) Okay, um...anyway, send your photos to youroutfitiscute@gmail.com - I'd love to hear from you!!!

Alternative to Blundstone Boots

Okay, so I know I live in the heart of Sydney but I decided that need a pair of tough boots that I can wear in the bush and when I go horse riding. Also, ankle high boots seem quite popular at the moment! I bought this great pair of boots today from Horse Land in Terry Hills (about a 30 minute drive north of Sydney).

I had been considering buying Blundstones (which I love) or something similar. The boots that I settled on are made by Baxter and the style is 'Tuffy'. They cost $79.95 for the adults' boots or $69.95 for the children's boots.

You can buy from Horse Land online which is pretty convenient. Check out their website at Horse Land. I also recommend going to the store to make sure you get the right size (I normally take a ladies 8.5 but they were way too big and I eventually took the size 6).

I hadn't previously considered the 'Tuffy' but in the end they were exactly what I wanted. Leave a comment to let me know what you think I'd love to hear your thoughts. xo

Oooh, sparkly things!

Last weekend I found this great gold colour nail polish from OPI for $19. What do you think? It certainly made my day sparkly!

Canvas casual shoes

In Europe last summer I bought some stylish but dirt cheap trainers in 'Monoprix' for about $20 AUD. Since I came back to Australia the shoes have completely worn out, and today I was lucky enough to find the perfect replacement - a pair of Converse trainers from DJs Elizabeth Street. The shoes are a honey canvas colour and cost $89 Australian. I also found the same shoe online at ASOS for only $64 ($25 less!). Visit http://www.asos.com/au. I was a bit hesitant about sizing so I went into DJs to buy them. I guess I could have found my size in DJs and then bought from ASOS! Maybe next time ;-)

Nail polish colours from 'Seed'

Hello happiness! These colours from seed are so bright and cheerful! They cost  $12.95 (Australian) and DJs had %20 off at the time so they were only about $10 each. I was so inspired I coloured all my nails different colours :-)

Iridescent Flats

If you are looking for ideas for some new shoes, I can recommend these flats from Nine West (sold under a label named 'Boutique 9'). I bought them from the David Jones store in Elizabeth Street, Sydney. They are also available from Nine West online at www.ninewest.com.au.

I have to buy flats these days because I simply can't walk in high heels for long. I so love finding a cute pair of flats!!!

Cheap Ugg Boots from KMart

It's not quite winter yet, but this evening I  was inspired by these cute traditional ugg boots for only $8.00 (Australian) in KMart Broadway! Only $8.00! Yes, I was pretty excited to find this bargain ;-)

These ugg boots were also available in black, dark grey, and sparkle pink (very tempting indeed). Our house is cold and drafty so I'm looking forward to being able to keep warm now when I'm hanging about in my pjs.

**Sunday morning update: they're really warm :-D

These colours make me so happy :-) and the fabric is beautiful too. I bought both of these items today from the Sydney store in Pitt Street Mall.

I will be keeping an eye on the Zara store more regularly from now on!

Dress Ideas for Work

Following on from my last post, another item which I recently purchased from Sunny Girl is this lovely work dress. I like the retro black & white pattern and I find it quite flattering due to the cross-over section at the top. I bought it two months ago now (around New Year's) but I saw that there were still a couple of sizes left in the Broadway store when i bought my orange top there on the weekend. I can't recall the exact price - I think it was around $50 from memory.

Check out the Sunny Girl website for their online shopping section: http://www.sunnygirlbyfreez.com.au/

Autumn Colours

I found this sweet patterned top at Sunnygirl in Broadway Shopping Centre. To me it looks like the type of top you might buy from Cue for $100 or more. At $39 I thought it was a good find!

I really like the ruffles  on the shoulders. What do you think? I think it will look good belted with jeans or perhaps with a high waisted skirt. Yes, that's me in the photo ;) With the weather so muggy at present I'm sure I will get a lot of use out of it!

"Rings on her fingers and bells on her toes"

Okay, so I've been going completely ring crazy lately, but this ring was sooooo fun I couldn't resist. It jingles every time I type and...well, it's just nicely 'chunky'. The ring is from Witchery and is called the 'Rondel Resin Cluster Ring'. Check out the online store at http://www.witchery.com.au (under 'sale' items). Reduced from AUD$39.95 to $12.95 it is really good value, and lots of fun. And as the song says...you will have music where ever you go!

Classic Black High Heels

Heels anyone? Don't mind if I do! These shoes are pretty up there in terms of heel height, but they have a classic line to them which I like. I searched from store to store to find a pair of classic heels to wear to a wedding and I ended up buying the shoes pictured. With a heel height of 11cm, the style is 'Stepout' from Nine West. Choose from patent black, patent taupe and patent red. Check out the details on the Nine West online store at the below link:  http://www.ninewest.com.au/stepout/w2/i1471290/.

Favourite Online Shops

I have made a wonderful discovery recently.... online shopping! My first online shopping experience was the purchase of a bottle of Marc Jacobs 'Daisy' eau de toilette (see post below). I have been researching online shopping ever since, and have found that many of my favourite clothes shops also have online stores. The excitement happens when, for example, you have already bought a little Sambag ballet flat in coffee colour, and you discover that the online store has the same shoe in three other colours that weren't in stock in the store!!! So, here are some of my favourite online shops. Happy shopping!
